Simple Games You Can Add To You Papers

Now you need to set up your games so you can use them later. You could probably make multiple sheets for kids to use. Some games you can put on your sheets are:

  • Tic Tac Toe- Make a pound sign. One person is x’s and the other is o’s. First with three in a row wins.
  • Dots and Squares- Put dots on your paper in neat rows equal distances apart. Each person takes a turn making a line using a different color. You guys work on making squares. The person who closes the square gets that square. The first person to get the most squares wins!
  • Hangman or Hanging Spider- One player thinks of a word and then makes lines so people can see how long the word is. As they guess write down the letter on the line if it is correct or below if it isn’t. Add a line or shape needed for the hangman or hanging spider each time they get it wrong. If you draw the picture before they get the right word, they lose.
  • Connect Four- Draw a big square and then make even squares in it by adding horizontal and vertical lines. You want to make a connect 4 board. Each person draws a circle in a different color and the first one to get 4 in a row wins!
  • Snakes- Make another dot board. Players then take turns adding a line to the snakes body moving from dot to dot. The player who touches the edge of the paper or another line loses. It’s like that old Nokia cellular game!
  • Cross Cram- Make a 6×6 dot grid. Then using two different colors add lines. One person makes lines vertically, the other horizontally. You take turns to make a line, but no dot can me joined more than once. The person that runs out of moves, loses.
  • Words Within- Pick a word. A big word like Halloween, balloon, Wednesday, etc… is most ideal. Your child can then make smaller words out of the big words. The person with the most words wins!

You Can Use Printables In Your DIY Activity Book

Don’t want to draw out all your boards? That’s okay! You can use some of our printables to add into your activity book. Most printables have the option to shrink images, which is perfect, all you have to do is cut them down and add them. This is particularly useful for younger children.

  • We have so many different crossword puzzles that you can download and print:
  • Check out our word searches as well. These are fun and you can download and print these:

  • You can also download and print our coloring papers to add to your DIY activity book.

Our Experience With This DIY Activity Book

This activity book has been a life saver. Sometimes you need quiet time or for kids to busy when you’re on the run… or at least I do. And this has really helped. My older kids loved this.

My younger kids loved it, but I had to modify it for them. We printed out coloring pages and added them and I left blank pages in there for them to color. And I added some dot pages for them to draw on it and practice so they can play with the bigger kids. And sometimes the bigger kids do play with them.

I hope this activity book is as much fun for your kids as it was for mine!
